Text Almost everyone who asks us about a website starts with the same question: how much will it cost? The honest answer is that it depends on what you need. This guide explains what changes the price, shows typical ranges, and gives you questions to ask so you are never surprised by the bill.
What changes the price
Three things matter most:
- Size and purpose. A five-page website for a small business is very different from a system with logins, a database and reports.
- Features. Contact forms and a WhatsApp button are quick. Online registration, payments, dashboards or a Swahili and English version take more work.
- Content and design. If you already have your text, photos and logo, the project is faster. If we must write, photograph or design everything, it takes longer.
Typical price ranges
These are the indicative ranges on our Pricing page. They are in Tanzanian shillings and are based on typical Tanzanian market rates.
- Starter website (up to 5 pages): TZS 750,000 to 1,150,000
- Business website (up to 10 pages, English and Swahili): TZS 1,550,000 to 2,350,000
- Web system (logins, database and reports, for example school, inventory or membership management): TZS 3,050,000 to 4,700,000
Your final price depends on your exact requirements, so treat these as a starting point, not a promise. You can get a range for your own project in a few minutes with our free cost estimator.
Costs people forget
A website is not only the building. Ask what happens after launch:
- Hosting and domain. Your website needs a place to live and a name such as yourbusiness.co.tz. We can set this up for TZS 300,000 as a one-time service.
- Maintenance and support. Updates, backups and fixes. Our support plans start from TZS 150,000 per month.
- Training. If your team will update the site themselves, a short training session (from TZS 400,000) saves a lot of frustration later.
Questions to ask before you pay
- What exactly is included, and what is not?
- Can I see websites you have already built, and talk to the owners?
- Who owns the website and the content after it is finished?
- How long will it take, and what do you need from me?
- What do hosting and support cost after the first year?
A clear written quote is the best protection for both sides. If someone cannot explain what you are paying for, keep asking.
Choosing a fair price
The cheapest offer is rarely the cheapest in the end. A slow, hard-to-use website, or one that isn't secure, can cost you customers. Look for a team that listens first, explains the price in plain language, and stays available after launch.
